Beauty inspirations

Normally I don't like to use the word 'inspiration' on the blog, since it's something personal. On fashion and lifestyle websites we are constantly confronted with the word, but to be honest I'm not always inspired by it. Beauty is one of those aspect in which you really can be inspired in my opinion. In a literal way I mean, you can try to copy it for yourself or so.

Here are some beauty looks that inspire me and that are also perfect for NYE! I'm especially in love with the two top looks. You might have noticed my love for dark red coloured lipstick from previous posts. :)

Ox blood coloured lipstick, combined with heavy brows, highliter and just a tad of mascara.

Unusual eyeliner underneath the eye (right) gives a quirky look.

All hail to shimmer! Above one of my favourite beauty looks ever from the Louis Vuitton catwalk. Underneath another quirky look with an unusual eyeliner underneath the eye. I love how it gives such a refreshing touch.

Those were my current beauty inspirations. I hope you enjoyed it and wish you all happy holidays!

Merry Christmas + holiday favourites

It's Christmas today!

And because of that special reason I'm showing you a few of my holiday favorites. Some old, some new but all very enjoyable these days.

A good book to read, especially since it a classic like Jane Austen.
Pink earrings from Jutka & Riska in Antwerp. I bought them a few years ago but I've barely wore those since I died my hair... Pity!

Still happy with last years B-day present: Dior Rosy Glow Blush (colour is different IRL)
Necklace from H&M, finally customized with my lovely boyfriend.
Christmas is all about being warmhearted isn't it?

A beautiful chic H&M necklace.
Small emergency eyeshadow palette (with the best highliter ever) from Essence.
Also very handy these days, a new concealer: Estée Lauder Double Wear

My beloved Hurraw! lipbalm, mineral oil free.
Discovery of the month: HEMA's 'Today I feel marvelous perfume'. But one does not simply buys a perfume until one is certain about it's smell, so I started with the bodylotion.

A lovely family movie roughly based on real history, yes please.

Well, then there is just one more thing to say:

I'm wishing you all a
MERRY CHRISTMAS !

Winter whites

Oh December, what are you doing to me?

I am totally getting in the Christmas mood! I went shopping for Christmas presents, decorated my dorm room, spent hours on blogs and webshops for inspiration, and so on. While I actually should stress out because I have a lot of assignments that should be ready in two weeks. But that's typical me again, if you've been following me for a while you will probably have noticed. I am constantly complaining about drowning in homework while I keep procrastinating, classic Siel.

The holidays are also a nice opportunity to look around for some present inspiration!
Here is my current Christmas wishlist:

I urgently need new earbuds since mine fell apart two months ago, but I have a small tingling feeling that someone is taken care of that..
However the word oxblood isn't very appealing, the colour definitely is. It's one of the most trendy lip colours of the moment, and I absolutely adore it. Though it's harder to find in store then I thought, I will definitely go look for it again if I have time for a good shopping spree. Tips about this lipstick colour are very welcome !
A girl can never have enough jewellery, right? At least if they're basics, in my humble opinion. I need a few more nice basic earstuds, that will look good on almost every outfit, just like those from & Other Stories!

Another thing that I would love to add to my collection this winter is the so called 'blanket scarf'. A huge scarf, preferably with tartan print, that you can use as a blanket while sitting by the campfire. Paulien from Polienne.com showing her pretty Zara example above.
Who would ever say no to a fashion comic book? Even if it's written in French! I see this book by the lovely Tokyobanhbao as a great opportunity to revise and improve my French. Also books by the French Diglee will do the trick!

movie Blind (2007), Etsy flower earring

Finding my favourite Dutch movie underneath the Christmas tree would be even more awesome. Despite of the cliché cover picture, Blind is a very beautiful movie with the most beautiful shots. I always wanted to dedicate a blog post to that movie, maybe I will once. But unfortunately I've never found it in store, it's rather hard to find.

Hopefully you enjoined my Christmas wishlist! Are there any things you really want to be underneath your Christmas tree? I would love to know!

Love,
Siel

Yay for December

Hello winter!

It's December, and actually still autumn, but lately I got a true winter feeling. Bring on those hats, gloves and cuddly blankets! The only thing I want do to now is snuggle up in a cosy blanket and watch movies with some candle lights in the background, all preferably together with the boyfriend. Unfortunately there is that thing called assignments, that is stopping me. Most of the time. Yay for December! (being a little sarcastic over here)

I decided to wear the black pants of the JBC collection I won (remember?) for the first time. To be honest it was one of my least favourite items. It's not as comfy and stretchy as my trusty jegging, made of really thin fabric -When would you wear it anyway? Too hot for summer and too cold for winter- and I wasn't that fond of the print. Somehow it reminded me of a snake skin pattern, which I used to relate with not very fashionable people.
But today I totally changed my mind! I wore it like leggings with an oversized jumper and I must admit it felt really good together. I'll keep it in mind, try tight fitted and printed pants with something oversized!

December also means time to drag my leo coat out of the closet. I couldn't be happier. All hail to the cosy clothing!

Living in the past: Halloween '13

Do you know those moments when you're kinda busy, and when you're not busy you're just lazy and want to relax so you waste your time on mindlessly surfing the internet?
Well, this sort of describes my November. Why am I telling you this? Because I still have to show you my Halloween post! Almost a month after date I show you my awesome Halloween weekend!

On the 31st of October I organised a Halloween party at my place, just like two years ago. The decision was made on the day itself so I hadn't got a lot preparation time. Luckily I had some experience from the previous time so I recycled a few things that weren't hard to make. I went to the supermarket to get my ingredients and went in a hurry to another supermarket cause they hadn't got all I wanted in the first one en started the preparations.

Looking for all sort of decorations true the house. Here are some of them. What you see are a lot candle holders, incense, dried roses, a pumpkin, and my personal favourite: Some garlic to keep the vampires away.

Boyfriend to the rescue! He helped me finish the snacks (sort of) on time.

Personal food favourite: eyeballs...
Made with lychees, berries on the inside, and a bit food colouring for the veins. Scary right?!

Snacks, check. Food (here radish mouses), check. Friends, check.

Slippery eyeballs, next to beer and mocktails.

Graveyards and candlelight, a perfect Halloween combo if you'd ask me!

And an over all atmosphere impression.

Something that we did plan in advance was a Halloween party on the day afterwards. Months before I started thinking about possible outfits (fashion blogger alert!). And after several considerations, two came out as best. A chic vampire, or a messy witch. Note that it was a Pimps and Ho's x Halloween party. I tried both outfits before, with the things I had in my dorm room.

Vampire - Planned with a chic hairdo, like a chignon, perfect make up and a bright red lipstick. For the jewellery are diamond earrings and a pearl necklace absolutely necessarily.

Witch - Messy hair, a bird claw necklace and some sloppy over knee socks were the ingredients to my witch transformation. +some dark eye make up which is kinda missing in those pics

And then the final result, slightly different from the try-outs, but still ok I think.
Me as a black witch, joined by a boyfriendHulk, a devil, a schoolgirl, and some witchy/vampirish creatures.

At the party.
Afterwards it became sort of epic.

I hope you enjoyed my Halloween journey, even though you're probably rather getting in a X-mas vibe! While you're reading this I'll be probably studying for a big test coming up at the end of the week, so wish me luck! And good luck to you in all the stressy things you may be suffering from at the moment!

Nymphs and godesses, Dolce and Gabbana I

Spring 2014 ready-to-wear Dolce and Gabbana

The last few years I'm getting more and more into Dolce and Gabbana. I'm attracted by their feminine sensuality. Their ability to make a woman sexy without making it vulgar, while still getting a very glamorous result. Don't get me wrong, I also love rather minimalistic silhouettes, but sometimes a good dose of glamorous gets me drooling.
I'll show you why, by my favourites of their latest collections, starting backwards chronological with the Spring 2014 collection.

This collection was very enchanting. A very playful and light way to view spring. Despite the chunky added flowers, the collection still looks flowy and light. With a magical atmosphere, in which the models are replaced by nymphs. Reminder for springtime: Try on some lilac eyeshadow, combined with tons of highliter and a sweet pink blush.
The collection contains three recurring themes. The first one I just described, an ancient Greece/Rome inspired part and one with a lot gold and embellishment.
And I know the pictures aren't that large (you can always click on them to enlarge), but a tip for viewing a collection of Dolce & Gabbana is to pay attention to the details. Check how amazing they are!

Fall 2013 ready-to-wear Dolce and Gabbana

This collection of Dolce & Gabbana must be my favourite ever! Is there anything not to love about it? It contains amazing make up, history, gemstones, shoes and last but not least, clothes!

Fall 2013, it ain't gonna be more accurate! This season's collection has a large dose of glamour, with some royal influences. Or rather a lot royal influences. It starts with highlighting one of the greatest ancient cultures, that once had an important role in Italy: the Byzantine empire. On the clothing we see a literal translation of the famous Byzantic mosaics, guided by a numerous gemstones. Add a gold background colour, some majestic dresses and you become an instant godess.
Secondly there is a way more modest part, containing mainly greys and black. The silhouettes and fabric are in the middle of attention here. I think it is about the Italian woman, showing her typical class and style.
In the end we go back to the Byzantic glamour, but one a more femme fatale way. The patterns and gems remain, but all translated in red dresses this time. Together with crowns and fierce make up, they're creating true queens.
Coming to the make up, this is also a big reason why I love this collection so much! The models have dark red lips, a trend where I've completely fallen for since last year. Finishing of with a simple eyeliner, a healthy sleek dark haircut and saying goodbye to bushy brows, this makes a perfect look.

Oh and just one thing, look a those shoes. They've got caged heels, surrounded by roses. CAGED HEELS SURROUNDED BY ROSES!
Please get a towel, you are drooling on your screen.

A puppet for Halloween

Happy Halloween!

I know I'm a little early, but halloween must be my favourite holiday ever (if it was a holiday here in Belgium). Dressing up, decorating, or giving awesome halloween themed parties like this one we did two years ago! Probably there won't be a party like that this year, unless I immediately start planning for a party in a couple of days.. (you notice the secret wish?) But there is a Halloween dance party planned on Friday. Hopefully Ruby will make it too! Lot's of dressing up options have crossed my mind, but I do know one thing for sure. It won't be a puppet like here. Dancing around with wires doesn't seem like a very good idea. So that makes one option less, and still dozens to choose from. How will you dress up for Halloween?

Quality above quantity?

I'm not a big fan of those cheap Asian webshops. You know, the kind of shop that sell's copies of designer items. If you are in doubt about a shop, check the bag section, much likely that you'll recognize the current it-bags! And that's the main reason I don't like them. The prices are great, but the circumstances are probably less great, and originality is hard too find. Although the designs are often really pretty, and these type of shops are the only places to find cheap knock-off's of high fashion clothing. But I do think it's a pest for designers. Every season they work hard to finish their collection in time and promote it. Imagine suddenly spotting cheap and of much lower quality copies of your hard work. Quality above quantity!
But still the temptation is quite strong, if you spot those beautiful designs, that you'll hardly find in regular stores. I might consider making an exception for these beauties:

All from Sheinside.

The two coats on top seem like the perfect coats for the type of the year, since the weather feels like the end of September. Aka still quite warm. Two years I was looking for a black cape-like coat (remember?) which I didn't find, but which I still think it's cute. Especially with that cute furry cap. And that dress is a perfect basic exemplar for autumn. I imagine you can style it like a Little Black Dress in a million ways.
Although I completely fell in love with the olive shade on top (trendy!), I went absolutely head over heels for the first coat. So if you are in a random-giving-gifts-to-strangers-mood, you know where to find me! ;)

JBC - Event

Have you ever won an entire clothing collection? Me neither.

This is what I would have said a week ago. But let me start from the beginning. Last week I won tickets for a VIP-shopping night at JBC, to celebrate it's collaboration with the British Alice Temperley. I invited Ruby, and together we entered Antwerp's JBC store on the Meir. Inside the beautiful building we discovered the new collection while enjoining a glass of rosé wine.

In the middle of the store there was the prettiest setting on a table in shades of red and pink. But the best thing about that table were definitely the refreshments. My personal favorite were the little candy ice cream cones, yum!
.

There was also a style battle, meaning that you had to pick one item from the A.T. x JBC collection, and combine it with other JBC clothing. I picked the gorgeous flowered pencil skirt and combined it with a black long sleeve cropped top. Ruby opted for the white pencil skirt and wore it with a sporty T-shirt and her beautiful dark lipstick (I need to get such a lipstick too, it's sooo beautiful!).
.

.
You could probably guess what comes next. The jury decided, and choose my outfit as a winner. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard my name calling! With a big smile and completely shaky I went to Tiany Kiriloff to accept my prize: the whole Alice Temperly for JBC collection! I still can't believe it.
.

Later Ruby and I went separate ways, both heavily loaded, and both satisfied I think! (Ruby: yes yes, very satisfied. I had an amazing time as well! ^-^)
.

And here I am now, surrounded by the entire collection I won. Still extremely happy.
I apologize in advance if I will become a walking advertisement for AT x JBC, but I guess you will understand the situation. :)
